In addition, Dr. Taghavifar is taking on shifts in the Emergency Department at RVH, and will be contributing further to hospital-based care through hospitalist work and surgical assist shifts, supporting a broad spectrum of inpatient and procedural services at Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
"I’m very pleased to welcome Dr. Saeed Taghavifar to our community! His presence will significantly enhance access to care, not only by strengthening our local primary care services but also by supporting our hospital and the emergency department. He is a great addition to our healthcare team and this is a meaningful step toward improving timely, quality care for our community,” stated Dr. Amanda Low, Chief of Staff, Renfrew Victoria Hospital and FHO Co-Lead, Ancient Rivers FHO.
Dr. Taghavifar obtained his Doctor of Medicine from Urmia University of Medical Sciences in Iran in 2017. He practiced for five years as an Emergency Physician in Iran, with a strong emphasis on acute care, and has co-authored several academic publications. After immigrating to Canada in 2022, he remained active in healthcare and recently completed the Practice Ready Ontario (PRO) Program.
The PRO program provides an accelerated pathway for internationally trained physicians to enter the Ontario healthcare system. It includes a 12-week clinical assessment and a three-year return-of-service commitment in designated rural or northern communities. The program is delivered by the Touchstone Institute in collaboration with the Government of Ontario, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), and other partners.
Dr. Taghavifar is fluent in six languages, and his interests include gardening, nature photography, language learning, travel, playing soccer and tennis.
“I’ve been deeply touched by the warm and welcoming environment created by my colleagues at RVH and the FHO. The people of Renfrew have shown incredible hospitality and kindness, making my transition into the community feel effortless. The natural beauty of both Renfrew and Calabogie has been truly inspiring. Whether it’s the serene trails or the vibrant seasonal colors, I find great joy exploring the area. Professionally, I’ve been impressed by the neat, well-organized, and collegial atmosphere within the hospital—it's a wonderful place to provide care,” said Dr. Taghavifar.
We are very fortunate to have Dr. Taghavifar join our team at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital where our mission has always been to provide high-quality, compassionate care closer to home. The recruitment of physicians has never been more critical to sustaining the services our community relies on every day,” stated Suzanne Madore, RVH President & CEO.
