Cancer Services

oncologyRenfrew Victoria Hospital is affiliated with The Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre as a satellite cancer unit.  This team approach to care enables patients to receive treatment in or near their own community.

The Oncology department provides chemotherapy and immunotherapy (drugs that fight cancer) treatments for many different types of cancer. Our Team consists of specially trained nurses, physicians, pharmacists and a Medical Secretary. The cancer care provided to patients and family at RVH will be of the same quality as received at The Regional Cancer Centre.

In addition to receiving chemotherapy treatments, some follow-up appointments with Oncologists can be arranged through the Ontario Telemedicine Network (appointment takes place through a video monitor here at the hospital).  When these are possible, it saves the patient a trip to Ottawa.

There are certain types of cancer drugs that are required to be given at The Ottawa Hospital; the Oncologist will determine the best place for a patient to receive treatment.
