Accreditation 2017 - Accredited with Exemplary Standing 2017 to 2021
The Renfrew Victoria Hospital has been Accredited with Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada, an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets standards for quality and safety in healthcare and accredits health organizations in Canada and around the world.
Exemplary Standing is the highest rating possible and is awarded to organizations that go above and beyond the requirements and demonstrate excellence in patient care and quality improvement.
As part of the accreditation survey, the Renfrew Victoria Hospital underwent a rigorous evaluation process. Following a comprehensive self-assessment, a team of external peer surveyors conducted a two day on-site visit in December 2017, during which they assessed the leadership, governance, clinical programs and services at RVH against Accreditation Canada’s national standards for quality and safety.
According to the final report, RVH met 100% of the Required Organizational Practices - essential practices that must be in place in order to keep patients safe and minimize risks and 99.3% compliance with the quality standards.
The Surveyor Team Lead remarked on the teamwork and the sense of family that permeates throughout RVH extending to patients and their families. She stated we are caring and compassionate in everything we do and advised staff and physicians to “be proud of what you do every day”. In the decision letter, the Chair of the Accreditation Decision Committee extended her congratulations on this “outstanding achievement and commitment to providing safe, high quality health services”.
The success of the accreditation process is attributed to the ongoing hard work and commitment of many people – all of the hospital staff, the leadership team, Board members, physicians and volunteers.
