RVH Board of Directors welcomes two new members

As the Renfrew Victoria Hospital’s Board of Directors ramps up for its fall schedule of activities, it welcomes two new members. Meena Ballantyne and Shauna Lemenchick were appointed to the Board at its June 28 meeting, but the Board held no scheduled meetings during the summer hiatus.

"It is truly a pleasure to welcome Meena and Shauna to our Board for their first meeting this fall” said RVH Board Chair Keanan Stone. “Both Meena and Shauna have tremendous experience and expertise in the fields of public service, management and health related fields. Each one of them brings a dynamic mix of skill sets and passion to complement our Board. We are fortunate to continually attract community members of such caliber to support RVH.”

Ballantyne retired from a 30-year career in the federal government in 2017, following a three-year stint as Deputy Minister for Status of Women Canada. She had previously held senior executive positions at Health Canada, the Privy Council and Heritage Canada. As well, she has served on several government boards, including the Board of Health Canada Infoway, the Board of the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technology in Health, and the Health Canada Audit Committee.

Ballantyne, who has lived in Renfrew for the past 20 years, said, “I am honoured and excited to contribute to such an important institution, which is a vital part of the Renfrew community.”

Lemenchick, who is past president of the RVH Auxiliary and a former member of the RVH Foundation, said, “I am very pleased to represent the Hospital Auxiliary on the Board.”

Lemenchick spent 38 years with the provincial government before her retirement. She was employed in various branches of Ontario’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and established Renfrew’s Government Information Centre, which was later rebranded Service Ontario.

RVH Board members serve three-year terms, which can be renewed for a maximum of three terms (nine years) without a break in service.
