Ontario Power Generation contributes to RVH CT fund

Ontario Power Generation recently made a significant contribution to the Renfrew Victoria Hospital CT fund. Participating in the presentation were, from left, Jennifer Gardiner of the OPG Public Affairs department; Phil Crozier of the RVH Diagnostic Imaging department; Jim Moreland, OPG Plant Group Manager, Ottawa-St. Lawrence Plant Group; Paul Brabant of the RVH Diagnostic Imaging department; RVH Vice-President of Corporate Services Julia Boudreau, Dr. Sherief Massoud and RVH CEO Randy Penney.
Renfrew Victoria Hospital’ CT (computerized tomography) fund has received significant support from Ontario Power Generation (OPG).
In December, OPG representatives presented a cheque for $10,000 to the CT fund.
“OPG and its Ottawa/St. Lawrence Plant Group are very pleased to support the Renfrew Victoria Hospital’s new CT scanner,” said Jim Moreland, Plant Group Manager. “The addition of the CT scanner will enhance emergency response capabilities and help to increase the quality of health care in the Renfrew community.”
“This is a very impressive corporate commitment on the part of OPG,” said RVH Foundation Chair Jim Lemenchick. “As supporters of the RVH CT fund, they have made a significant contribution to quality health care for the greater Renfrew area.”
The state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanner was installed at RVH this fall. It is available for in-patient and out-patient diagnostic services.
“The CT scanner is being used on a daily basis,” noted RVH Chair Catherine O’Neil. “It brings a new level of support to patient care throughout the hospital, including the emergency department, our county-wide nephrology and oncology programs, and the full spectrum of services RVH provides.”
The hospital is depending on donations from the local community to cover the $3 million investment for the CT project, which is not eligible for provincial funding. To date, more than $500,000 has been contributed to the cause, which is also the focus of this year’s Tree of Lights fund-raising campaign.
Ontario Power Generation is committed to being a good neighbour in the community. Through its Corporate Citizenship Program, OPG provides support to local not-for-profit organizations such as the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, thereby helping to enhance the quality of life in its neighbouring communities.
