RVH Sleep Products’ grand opening is set for October 7

Renfrew Victoria Hospital is inviting the public to explore its newest service, designed to meet the needs of patients with sleep apnea.

RVH Sleep Products will officially open on Wednesday, October 7. Products such as C.P.A.P. machines and components, as well as special pillows and other items, are now available to purchase at the new site.

Located in the lower level of the clinic building at 500 Raglan Street North, just across the street from the main hospital building, RVH Sleep Products is an extension of the hospital’s 10-year regional program specializing in sleep disorders.

“This is the next natural step for our sleep service,” comments RVH CEO Randy Penney. “Patients in the sleep lab depend on the expertise of our caregivers, and we are pleased to now be able to help them select the right products and the replacement components they need.”

“This will reduce their need to travel to make necessary purchases, and provide them with the assurance that they are receiving expert advice on the selections they make,” he adds.

“RVH Sleep Products” is staffed by the hospital’s registered respiratory therapist and registered polysomnographic technologist. It sells the leading brands of C.P.A.P. (continuous positive airway pressure) machines and the masks, filters, tubing and related products they require.

Products will be available at the grand opening, and staff will be on hand from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to provide more information. Discounts, draws for merchandise, and an official opening ceremony at 10:00 a.m. will mark the day.

A C.P.A.P. machine is often prescribed for patients diagnosed with sleep apnea, or disruptions in breathing during sleep. The machine delivers a continuous flow of pressurized air which pushes against the throat tissues and keeps the airway open.

Proper-fitting masks are required for effective C.P.A.P. therapy, and regular replacement of the masks and filters is essential for hygienic treatment.

The RVH regional sleep care service, led by Respirologist Dr. Judith Leech, has earned a solid reputation for quality care and serves a regional catchment area that stretches from Deep River and Whitney in the west, to Cloyne and Perth in the south, and Almonte and Arnprior in the east.

“We are fully committed to providing the best possible sleep care for the people we serve,” comments Penney. “This is an important component of that commitment.”

RVH Sleep Products is open Mondays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesdays from noon to 6 p.m., and Wednesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. VISA, American Express, MasterCard and debit card transactions are accepted.
