New vice-president of patient care appointed at Renfrew Victoria Hospital

Renfrew Victoria Hospital is pleased to announce that Christene Ferguson has joined its senior executive team as vice-president of patient care services.

“We are delighted to welcome Chris to our senior management team,” comments RVH CEO Randy Penney. “She has a wealth of experience and ability, with a solid grounding in the culture of a community hospital.”

Ferguson has been director of patient and resident services and chief nursing executive at Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital and Grove Nursing Home since 2006. She will join the staff at RVH in late July, replacing Nancy Kelly-Moore who retires in June.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to join the dynamic team at RVH, and I look forward to contributing to the high quality of patient care that is offered there,” says Ferguson.

During her tenure in Arnprior, the hospital was awarded the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario s Best Practice Spotlight Organization for 2009. Ferguson also received a prestigious nursing leadership award from the RNAO for nursing administration and was featured in their professional publication.

She served as interim chief executive officer of the corporation from September 2008 to January 2009.

Prior to her employment in Arnprior, she worked at The Ottawa Hospital, where she was clinical manager of the emergency department from 2002 to 2006, clinical manager of the 25-bed family medicine unit from 2000 to 2002, and clinical manager of geriatrics from 1999 to 2000. She has also worked as clinical manager of the urology, orthopedics and vascular programs at The Ottawa Hospital.

“Chris has a broad range of experience that will make a significant contribution to our administrative skill mix at RVH,” states Penney. “We look forward to many years of strong leadership and innovation.”
